I started playing resonator guitars in the early 90's and built my first guitar in 2003, with help from a friend who had uilt mandolins. It was my first attempt to build an instrument. After several years I decided I anted to build guitars on my own. Since then, I have gone into production of the Hobie Resonator Guitars. I have been told by some of the top players that Hobie Guitars are one of the best they have played.
I have sent guitars from as far away as Knoxville, TN to Japan. I personally build each guitar as If I were building in for myself to play. I use only top quality tone wood available and I take pride in my craftsmanship . I build all my instruments from the samespecs as I feel once you have a good thing going, why change it; therefore, I can repeat a sound of a certain guitar if someone orders one.
I have built guitars out of curly maple, curly cherry, mahogany, koa, and Brazillian rose wood. I use Quarterman cones, #14 spiders and I make my own bridges.
